Baby Massage Courses Kent

Learn how to confidently massage your baby over a 5 week course and enjoy time at each session to discuss parenting issues.

Suitable for babies from birth to 12 months, I teach a full massage routine in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

There is also ample time each week for class participants to chat about parenting issues and get to know the other parents over a tea or coffee at the end of each session.

The class size is deliberately kept small to provide a friendly atmosphere.

I have a team of carefully selected facilitators that I use to help me run the various classes that I offer at Blue Kangaroo Baby Classes.

Each facilitator has been specifically chosen because of their qualifications and possibly more importantly, because their commitment to providing excellent quality, fun and interactive classes matches mine. In short, I can guarantee you will be in very good hands!

All facilitators are fully qualified, insured and licensed to practice whichever course they are running.

Dawn Potter – Certified Infant Massage Instructor

I am a mother of two and a grandmother of one and have been working with children and families for the past 30 years.

I spent fifteen of those years working in a Montessori Nursery teaching children from 2.5 years to 5 years and then worked for ten years within the Ashford district children’s centres as a community involvement worker. Later in my career I worked as a family support worker specialising in postnatal depression and healthy eating ideas.

I have been a qualified baby massage instructor since April 2010 and have been running regular classes in children’s centres up to June 2016. I am currently working independently across the Ashford and Tenterden areas. I trained at St Thomas hospital in London.

Pippa Brook

Pippa Brook – Certified Infant Massage Instructor

Following a 25 year career in teaching which spanned nursery-aged children up to 18 year old adults I have had the privilege of working with parents-to-be and new parents since 2009 through running NCT antenatal and postnatal courses, (both privately and free of charge through Children’s Centres). I am now delighted to be joining the Blue Kangaroo team to run Baby Massage courses.

The excellent IAIM training, delivered by Mary Beattie, underpins my whole approach to Baby Massage. The in-depth courses enable parents to understand and communicate better with their babies, whilst learning a new skill, which aids developing their confidence as a parent.

This new skill and increased understanding of our baby can lead to so many benefits over a long period of time as the massage strokes are not just for the course, but can be adapted as your baby grows into a child and a teenager, leading to a life-long way of offering nurturing communication with your children.

The baby massage course also gives me the opportunity to facilitate postnatal discussions in a calm and supportive group environment which many parents have said has been an invaluable part of the course.

Louise Ward

Louise Ward – Certified Infant Massage Instructor

My love of infant massage began when I attended classes with my daughters and I have continued to use and adapt my skills as my children have grown. I firmly believe that it has helped us maintain a very strong bond and open communication over the years and that infant massage is a wonderful introduction to nurturing touch. I have my own holistic therapy practice in Deal and offer a range of treatments including clinical massage, pregnancy massage and aromatherapy.

I wanted to share my love of massage with other parents and became a Certified Infant Massage Instructor (CIMI) with the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM) in 2016. I trained with Kate Pigeon-Owen who strongly underpinned my belief that the parent is the expert of their own child.

I like to create a relaxed, baby-led environment where parents can learn, socialise with each other and share their experiences. I also encourage those attending the classes to involve partners and primary caregivers. I work independently in South East Kent with individuals and small groups.

“I would thoroughly recommend Sarah’s Baby Massage courses. I found them informative, relaxing and soothing for both baby and myself. They are set in a calm, light-hearted environment – an excellent way to connect with my newborn and other like-minded parents. (Always with biscuits!)

As a group of friends, we were able to build up our confidence with the massage techniques gradually each week. With Sarah’s direction, we started on the feet and legs to get the babies familiar and worked up to a full massage by the end of the course. The babies all made great progress which was amazing to see, as not all the newborns were compliant at first!

It was useful to find out about pressure points for teething, constipation, wind and sleep, and these tips have been very handy over the last 10 months!

The babies enjoyed socialising in a relaxed environment, and as new parents we were able to discuss anything on our mind without being judged. It was a comfort to have Sarah’s professional advice at this early stage in our journey as parents, and be able to ask any questions on our mind.

I will always treasure this constructive time together, connecting with my daughter, and learning more about my baby’s development.

Thank you Sarah.”
